Empowering Students with the Tools, Advocacy and Emotional Support to Succeed

Supporting Student Learning, Behaviour and Wellbeing – Together

Navigating school can be challenging – especially for children and teens with learning difficulties, emotional or behavioural challenges, or disability. That’s why our student support service at Better You HQ exists: to bridge the gap between what students need and what the school system can realistically provide.

We offer personalised student support by working closely with students and their families to promote learning, emotional wellbeing, and positive school engagement. Whether your child is struggling to cope emotionally, facing social difficulties, or feeling misunderstood in the classroom – we’re here to help them feel supported, capable, and connected.

Who Student Services Support

Supporting students and families through the ups and downs of school life is not just our work – it’s our passion. With a background in education and years of experience supporting children with diverse needs, we understand the challenges many families face when the school system doesn’t quite fit their child. We’ve walked alongside parents navigating tricky behaviours, emotional overwhelm, and school-based struggles, and we’re deeply committed to creating a space where families feel heard, supported, and empowered.

This service is for:

  • Children and adolescents with diagnosed or suspected learning difficulties (e.g., dyslexia, ADHD, intellectual disability)

  • Students with behavioural or emotional regulation difficulties

  • Young people with autism or other neurodevelopmental conditions

  • Families navigating Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), Program Support Groups (PSGs) disability funding, or school meetings

  • Parents who feel unsure how to advocate for their child’s needs

  • Students experiencing school-based stress, anxiety, or disengagement

Whether your child is formally diagnosed or you simply have a sense that something isn’t working – we offer a space to explore, understand, and act.

Why Advocacy Matters

Too often, students with invisible or misunderstood needs fall through the cracks. Behaviour gets misinterpreted, learning challenges go unaddressed, and students are left feeling "too much" or "not enough" in the classroom. Our student support service is here to change that. We believe every child deserves an education that recognises their unique strengths, learning style, and emotional needs.

As part of our student support approach, we advocate for your child’s right to learn in a way that honours their dignity and potential. We can help you prepare for school meetings, write advocacy letters, clarify your child’s educational rights, and ensure your voice is heard – respectfully but firmly.

Our Student Support Approach: Compassionate, Practical, and Personalised

Our student support approach combines therapeutic care, educational insight, and advocacy to create a holistic plan tailored to your child’s unique needs. We believe that effective student support goes beyond the classroom—it empowers the whole family and addresses emotional, learning, and behavioural challenges with compassion and clarity.

We offer:

  • Emotional and behavioural support – Regulation strategies, anxiety management, confidence-building, and counselling

  • School liaison and advocacy – Help with ILPs, school meetings, NDIS coordination, and ensuring your child’s needs and rights are recognised

  • Parent support and coaching – Understand your child’s challenges and gain tools to support them both at home and in school

  • Skill-building and early intervention – Development of social skills, executive functioning, and emotional literacy

  • Resource navigation – Guidance through the NDIS, referrals, and recommendations for assessments or allied health services

We understand how emotionally exhausting the school journey can feel when things aren’t going well. Our student support service is here to walk beside you—because no family should have to navigate it alone.

What To Expect From Our Student Support Service

Getting the right student support shouldn’t be confusing or overwhelming. At Better You HQ, we make the process clear, collaborative, and centred around your child’s wellbeing and growth. Here’s what you can expect when you work with us:

Initial Consultation

We start with a warm and in-depth parent session or 2. This is your space to share concerns, unpack your child’s history, and help us understand what’s going on beneath the surface. Your insights guide our student support plan from day one.

Student Sessions

Our time with your child is focused on connection, safety, and trust. Whether they need emotional support, social skills development, or help with anxiety or behaviour, we tailor each session to their needs. Through gentle exploration and practical strategies, we begin building skills for both school and life.

Collaboration & Planning

We collaborate to ensure consistent student support across settings. We can help with support letters, Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), and school meetings – making sure your child’s needs are clearly communicated and respected.

Ongoing Support

We offer both short-term and longer-term student support, depending on what’s best for your family. Whether you need a one-off consultation or consistent sessions, we’re here to walk with you for as long as needed
